Foot Surgery

At Podocen, we specialize in Minimally Invasive Surgery meaning that through small incisions, which range from one to five millimeters, we can introduce surgical devices in order to perform the surgery and watch the technique through a fluoroscopy (radiological image of the bone structures in real time). Its advantages, compared to traditional surgery, are the following:

  • It does not require hospitalization as it is performed on an outpatient basis and the patient returns home, on his or her own feet, at the end of the procedure.
  • It does not require general anaesthetic or epidural, as we use local anaesthetic.
  • It does not require either screws or k-wires as the fixation of special bandages and a specific shoe enables patients to walk immediately.
  • Less post-operative pain as the incisions are very small and the tissues damaged less.
  • Less risk of infection and better tissue’s healing.
  • Reduction of surgical costs in not requiring hospitalization.
  • Return of the patient to his or her everyday activities within a short space of time.
